The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
OCIA is a program for adults who are seeking to know more about the Catholic Church or completing their Catholic sacraments. Participants are adults who are not Baptized, have been Baptized in another Christian tradition, or Baptized Catholics who have not yet received Eucharist or Confirmation.
Typically, classes begin in October and are completed at Easter Vigil. Classes are on Thursdays at 6:30-8:00 PM, but can be determined by participants and current catechists. Registrants will be contacted directly to schedule an informational meeting before classes begin.
Candidates may choose a Sponsor to accompany them during the process, or Father will be happy to help. Sponsors must be over 18 and a "Catholic in Good Standing" as defined by the Diocese. Sponsors do not have to be a current member of our parishes but should be able to attend classes with the Candidate on a weekly basis.
There will be a few Rites that will occur during the initiation process. Most of them will be at our Parish masses, but one will be at the Cathedral in Salina (Sunday during Lent). These dates will be determined as they get closer.

Catechists for 2025-26 are Chuck and Tobina Norris, and Pete and Bonnie Orozco.
We will be using NEW Symbolon curriculum from Augustine Institute, and the parish will provide books. There is no cost to the Candidate for attending OCIA.
